Hi, I’m Carolina Tiller and I’m proud to be the PTO President of La Jolla Elementary 2023/2024.

 

I’m thrilled to be working closely with our wonderful Friends foundation President and my friends Elizabeth Van Clief and Sonal Patel. We are so fortunate that the fundraising efforts of our foundation help keep our class sizes down, provide amazing enrichment classes for our kids, support teachers and so much more. Elizabeth, Sonal and I make a great team and I hope it shows in our passion for this school and our efforts to bringing community and fundraising events to LJES.

 

They say it takes a village to raise a kid, and our PTO mission is to bring the village together. I love that I get to help our Parent Teachers Organization to provide our community with so many family fun events such as the UTK/Kindergarten BBQ, our Back to School Family Picnic, our family Wellness Night, family Movie Night, Family Dance, Book Fair, Art Show, Family Science, Birthday Book Club, our famous Talent Show, and one of my favorites, our International Festival that celebrates most of our kids background cultures and ethnicities.

 

The PTO also organizes and provides the after-school programs and camps, enhancing the educational opportunities with our robotics program, Spanish, theater, sports, chess, music, and arts. We also put together the Yearbook, Logo Wear, Tidings newsletter, hospitality, Student Council, Welcome Committee, Pizza Wednesday, social media, health and safety, school supply kits, and so much more.

 

These things could not happen without the financial support of our families ($50 per family) or our volunteers who so graciously spend hours planning, organizing, and running our events.

 

I want to personally thank our PTO Board members as well as all our Committee Chairs who do all the hard work without asking for anything in return. I’m proud of working side by side with such an amazing group of parent volunteers. We do this all with love in our hearts so our children can not only get a world class education but get to be part of a community where they make friends, have fun, and enjoy coming to school every day.
